Marketing & Communications Internship Opening

Intern Job Description
The Northwest Tennessee Local Food Network Marketing and Communications Intern will work closely with the NWTN LFN staff to develop consistent content on the LFN facebook page, website, and design marketing materials. The required length of this internship is expected to serve in this capacity for at least one full semester starting in January – June 2025, up to 135 hours total receiving a stipend of $500 hours total. The intern will receive payment upon completion of internship hours.

Purpose of Internship
This position will foster a deeper understanding of how local food systems work and hone the following skill sets: documentation and interviewing skills, writing, graphic design, website management, and social media management.

The Marketing & Communications Interns will report to the Co-Directors while supporting the following programs and initiatives within the following areas:

~Event Promotion: design materials to promote LFN events
~Social Media/Graphic Design: create Facebook event posts and scheduled posts – weekly creation of social media content and images used for #FarmtoSchoolMonday, #ThankaFarmer Tuesday, #What to Eat Wednesday (featured recipes), #Taste it Thursday, and #Local Food Fact Friday (featured images with local food fact),#Getitlocal Saturday, #FundaySunday
~Post Press Releases/Blog Posts: draft press releases, manage website to post blogs
~Website Management: update page information when necessary via Bluehost/Wordpress
~General program support: responsibilities may include administrative tasks, data collection, assisting with general organizational operations, and attending Local Food Network meetings and tabling events.

Qualifications of Applicant:

  • Remote capable – have access to the internet from your place of residence.
  • Self-Motivated, Detail oriented, organized, dependable.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using Google Workspace, and WordPress.
  • Interest in and dedication to promoting local food and agriculture.
  • Although this is a remote position, residing within an hour’s drive to Martin, TN is a plus!
